The candle flickers and dances with flowing grace.
Is that the wind that shakes the panes?
My eyes close and I see your pallid face.
Bright, now dark, blood, flowing in silent veins.
The cold hand that used to touch with longing desire.
And my very soul a’shivers.
An eternal flame not quenched by deaths glowing fire.
Nor time or turn of the earth from light to dark a’quivers.
My last breath, a silent whisper, a gasp and I will cease.
A sharp lovers kiss, embraced and now eternal.
Blood runs free, flowing, no death no life nor peace.
I’m in the shadows, now infernal.
Our love will have no end, forever more entwined.
And live in darkness, lurking, to catch unwary from behind.
First and last sonnet! Found it very difficult to be honest. It’s for Halloween sonnet Sunday organized by Ingrid from Experiments in Fiction. Hope you enjoy!

Not today it’s not 😅 it’s the Day of the Dead in Slovenia tomorrow, which seems quite appropriate as that’s what I will be…
