Road trip.

Going on a little road trip in these covid times is a bit of a strange thing to do but off we go. The reason we are going is my daughter lives in the Czech Republic. She had my grandson in the UK but he was quite ill so they stayed for six months. The NHS is a wonderful thing but it’s completely underfunded and the backlog of patients is incredible. At the same time private companies are making millions out of it. Quite sickening to be honest. So he’s still on a waiting list for an operation, but it could be into next year which is not great so his parents decided to go home. Its between a rock and a hard place to be honest. We are going with them via a ferry from Hull to Rotterdam, then drive through the Netherlands in Germany, then home sweet home for them. The paperwork for the covid tests and rules are very strict so far which isn’t a bad thing and we are all fully clear and double vaccinated.

Driving through Holland I had to take at picture of a windmill didn’t I? But as I did a bloody car with a trailer zoomed by so best I could do!

Last night we stayed in a place called Kassel in Germany. Nice little place. Very….. German. I will let you know where we end up tonight, depending on how far the little boy can go. So for now, Auf Wiedersehen for now.

Vinny, it is nice to read that you liked the city of Kassel. There are wonderful residences and castles there, for example the orangery in “Karlsaue” and “Wilhelmshöhe Palace” in the mountain park, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. With the “documenta”, the city also hosts a globally important exhibition of contemporary art every five years; therefore, since March 1999, Kassel has had the additional official designation “documenta city”.
Vinny, I wish you all a good trip!
Greetings from the beautiful Rhine-Highlands / Germany…
