SCOOBY POO!

Scooby Doo came on telly the other day. I used to love cartoons when I was a kid, Tom and Jerry, Daffy duck, Speedy Gonzales that kind of thing. But my favourite had to be Scooby. All those adventures with monsters and werewolves that turned out to be the caretaker or the bank manager. Those meddling kids solved more cases than Hercule Poirot. I used to think how cool it would be to drive round America in The Mystery Machine. Good against evil…but now I’m older…. can you imagine the smell of the van? Four dropouts and a huge dog in the back? Stink like a cess pit on a hot day. And the four of them never change clothes do they? what a mess. The Scooby snacks are probably laced with L.S.D if Shaggy hasn’t taken it all (can anybody tell me is Zoinks really a word? The beatnik says it on every show) and a dog that can talk, well, sort of. Half the time you need subtitles to understand the beast. And how could they afford all this? Petrol, food, it all costs and don’t forget the vets bill. Cartoons….Stupid….

Zoinks, indeed! Do you remember when the TV bigwigs decided it was a good idea to make a live-action Scooby Doo show with real people. Failed miserably but this cartoon was a classic. It was kinda like Archie, Veronica, Betty, Reggie and Jughead who was like a human Scooby Doo. Alas, these shows came along after I lost interest in Saturday morning cartoons. I was into Felix the Cat and Casper the Friendly Ghost. I told my mother I was going to marry Mighty Mouse; that was when the counseling began. LOL!! Loved me some Might Mouse. “Mr. Trouble never hangs around!”. Then I grew up and realized I liked Mr. Trouble better! 😎 🤣 😲

Now Vinny … don’t spoil it all! Take off your grown-up glasses for just a bit, remember what it was like to be 16 again … close your eyes and imagine … and then repeat after me 100 times, “Scooby Doo is NOT a stoopid cartoon, it is pure unadulterated fun!”

Oh yeah … with the ‘rabbit ears’ atop the set that had to be re-adjusted every so often! Ahhhh … the good ol’ days! And remember we only got 2 or 3 channels and they all went off the air at midnight?
